London CNN —A London-based technology company is looking to “democratize” talent-identification and scouting in soccer using a mobile app. Free to download and available globally, the aiScout app allows aspiring soccer stars to enter virtual trials for professional clubs by uploading self-recorded footage of themselves completing a series of drills. Ben Greenwood had never had a trial with a professional club until he downloaded the app in 2019. Felton-Thomas said the “lion’s share” of its income comes from charging clubs a license fee to run the platform. Watch out, Premier League. Make it 12 times that De Bruyne has set up Haaland for a goal since they started playing together at the beginning of last season following the striker's move to England. No other Premier League partnership has delivered that many goals in this period. Vincent Kompany, the Man City great in charge of Burnley, couldn't do his old club a favor. In other results, Fulham beat Bournemouth 3-1, Ivan Toney scored again as Brentford won 2-0 at Wolverhampton and last-place Sheffield United won for just the third time this season, 3-1 at relegation rival Luton.

Marc Atkins/Getty ImagesAt the heart of this is a failure in communication by match officials and a failure to put pragmatism before protocol. There is an acceptance that mistakes will happen, and there have been plenty already this season in the Premier League. The release of the audio of the conversations between the match officials would likely influence what Liverpool does next. In rugby union, fans can listen to discussions between match officials on crucial decisions, making the process clear and open for all. The EPL was raised from its initial 25% rate to 35% in November, bringing the overall tax burden to 75%. With Friday's changes the windfall tax would fall away, reducing the tax burden to 40%, if average oil and gas prices fall to or below $71.40 a barrel for oil and 0.54 pounds ($0.6784) per therm for gas in two consecutive quarters. However, the government said independent price forecasts by the Office for Budget Responsibility suggest the price floor mechanism is unlikely to be triggered before the windfall tax’s planned end date in March 2028. UK North Sea oil and gas producers including TotalEnergies (TTEF.PA) and Harbour (HBR.L) have said the levy would result in them cutting investment in the basin. Britain to announce energy security measures by month-end

LONDON, March 15 (Reuters) - British government measures to support energy security will be announced later in March, a budget document said on Wednesday without mention of any fresh incentives for oil and gas or renewable energy producers. "In addition to the measures in the spring budget, the government will set out further action later this month to ensure energy security in the UK and meet our net zero commitments," the government said in a budget document. "The Government has repeatedly ignored warnings from the renewable sector as it bulldozes through its tax raid on green electricity generators," said Rod Wood, managing director at wind energy developer Community Wind Power. "We are disappointed that it has not removed obstacles for offshore energy firms and the homegrown oil and gas producers." Reporting by Shadia Nasralla and Susanna Twidale Editing by David Goodman, Kirsten DonovanOur Standards: The Thomson Reuters Trust Principles.
Representatives of the renewable energy sector say those goals could be missed without policy changes, especially as other countries are doing more to attract investment in green power. Rod Wood, managing director at wind energy developer Community Wind Power, is among those seeking changes to the EGL in Britain's March 15 budget. OIL AND GAS SECTOR UNHAPPY TOOOil and gas producers, which have been subject to a windfall tax since May 2022, also want change. Finance Minister Jeremy Hunt, in a meeting in December, rebuffed calls from the oil and gas industry to amend the windfall tax. Meanwhile, Britain's biggest oil and gas producer Harbour , has announced job cuts and shunned the latest licensing round.
The jobs would be cut in Harbour Energy's headquarters in the North Sea hub of Aberdeen, Scotland, but the extent of the cuts is yet to be determined and will be subject to consultations. Harbour Energy Plc has 1,700 employees worldwide, according to its website. Executives in North Sea companies have urged the British government to introduce a price floor to mitigate the impact of the windfall tax as firms struggle to access new funding. Industry group OEUK said in response to Harbour's announcement that the windfall tax will further undercut spending. Companies including Shell Plc (SHEL.L) and Equinor ASA (EQNR.OL) have already said they will review their North Sea investments.
LONDON, Dec 9 (Reuters) - The British government stood firm on its windfall tax on the oil and gas sector in a meeting with industry executives on Friday, two sources with knowledge of what was discussed said. Finance Minister Jeremy Hunt rebuffed requests from North Sea oil and gas executives to include a mechanism in the tax to reflect falls in oil and gas prices, although a future revision was not ruled out should prices slump, the sources said. Hunt last month announced plans to boost the Energy Profits Levy (EPL) on oil and gas companies from 25% to 35%, bringing the total tax rate on the sector to 75%, one of the highest in the oil and gas industry. The government said this would raise funds to help people struggling with increased living costs, largely driven by energy prices that surged after oil and gas exporter Russia invaded Ukraine in February. LONDON, Dec 7 (Reuters) - British finance minister Jeremy Hunt will meet leaders of North Sea oil and gas producers on Friday to discuss the government's windfall tax, three industry sources told Reuters on Wednesday. The government said the levy would raise funds to help people struggling with increased living costs, largely driven by energy prices that surged after energy exporter Russia invaded Ukraine in February. A Treasury source confirmed Hunt would meet oil and gas executives this week. Benchmark Brent oil prices traded below $80 a barrel, the lowest since January and far below a spike well above $100 shortly after the Ukraine war began. Natural gas prices remain above their historical average .
PRICE FLOORNeither climate campaigners nor the industry are happy with the new windfall tax. Benchmark Brent oil prices are trading above $80 a barrel, far below a spike well above $100 shortly after the Ukraine war began. Jacques Tohme, director and founder of Tailwind, a North Sea producer, said he did not object to a higher tax but a lack of stable rules created the risk of "flight of investment" from the North Sea. "We're happy to pay higher tax, but we need a floor of $75 to $100 a barrel above which a true windfall tax can be applied," Tohme said. Companies including Shell (SHEL.L) and Equinor have already said they will review their North Sea investments.
LONDON, Nov 22 (Reuters) - Norwegian oil company Equinor (EQNR.OL) said on Tuesday it is evaluating the impact of Britain's windfall tax on its oil and gas projects, including the giant Rosebank development. The British government's decision last week to raise the windfall tax on North Sea producers to 35% from 25% "does not help investor confidence," Equinor said in a statement. "Uncertainty makes it harder to take investment decisions, especially the uncertainty around the longevity of the EPL (Energy Profits Levy)," Equinor said, referring to the tax. The Rosebank project is estimated to bring 26.8 billion pounds to the British economy through tax payments and investments, Equinor said. Equinor and Suncor Energy (SU.TO) each have a 40% interest in the Rosebank project, while newly-listed Ithaca Energy (ITH.L) has the remaining 20%.
Companies Shell PLC FollowLONDON, Nov 21 (Reuters) - Shell (SHEL.L) said on Monday it will evaluate plans to spend up to 25 billion pounds in Britain over the next decade following the government's decision to increase a windfall tax on oil and gas producers. "We're going to have to evaluate each project on a case by case basis," said Shell's UK country chair David Bunch told the Confederation of British Industry's annual conference in Birmingham. "When you tax more you're going to have less disposable income in your pocket, less to invest." The government forecasts that the tax, which was also extended from the end of 2025 to 2028, will raise 40 billion pounds. It nevertheless allows to deduct most investments in new oil and gas projects from the tax.
